The Pursuit of Balance
Last week, I watched "The Pursuit of Happyness," starring Will Smith. He plays a man desperate to get a full-time job as a stockbroker. In order to maximize his working time, he goes to work early, he doesn't drink water (so he won't waste time going to the washroom), and he doesn't hang up the phone between calls (to save eight minutes a day). Is your life like that? You drink your coffee on the way to work, eat at your desk and check your email at night. Do ...More of "The Pursuit of Balance"

Everyone starts each New Year with great aspirations. Take a look at the New Year's Resolutions that you have set. Is one of them to be more organized? For many people, it usually is. My Time Management seminars are always popular, yet at the end of one year, onto the beginning of the next, they seem to be most popular. Here are Rhonda's Top Ten list to get you ON THE RIGHT TRACK to better organization for Y2K. 1. Use a "slush" box - have ...More of "New Time Tricks for Y2K"
Telephone Time Savers
If we were to ever actually figure out how many hours are spent each day on the telephone, I think we might actually be surprised! It is incredible how quickly time passes when we have someone on the other end of the line, whether it is for business, or pleasure. The following four ways to save time on every call is an excerpt from my program entitled "Telephone Effectiveness." See if you can't save yourself just 5 minutes a day, which is 30 hours of time a year (just about a week ...More of "Telephone Time Savers"
Do You Have Enough Time to Get it All Done?
If I gave you two more hours every day - what would you do with it? This is the question I start off my Time Management Seminars with. I'm sure you can guess the most common answer is "Sleep" (this is after all usually about 9:00am!). Honestly - what would you do? Have you ever said, if I had more time I would exercise more? Spend more time with my family? Take more educational courses? And, on and on… I'm pretty confident that if I gave everyone more time, they would just ...More of "Do You Have Enough Time to Get it All Done?"
Procastination...I'll Get To It!
I've been meaning to write this article for weeks now, and it just seems that I can't get to it! Seriously though, procrastination is a disease that many many of us have. Why? Procrastination feels good at the time… it gets you out of doing things that you really don't want to do. So the purpose of procrastination is good, but it always seems to add more stress and disorganization to our lives. Can you recognize when you are procrastinating? Do you know what to do when you catch ...More of "Procastination...I'll Get To It!"
Our Life-Long Balancing Act
It seems that balance in life is becoming harder to achieve these days. Why is that? First, let's think about what exactly balance means. The way you interpret balance will be specific to you - and may be very different from the way I interpret balance. Here are some explanations of balance I've heard recently: - having time to sit still and do nothing for 30 minutes a day;
- being able to do one or two extra-curricular activities each week;
- being able to wake up and ...More of "Our Life-Long Balancing Act"
Regaining Your Balance
I run out of time every day. I sometimes wish there were 34 hours in a day because that extra 10 hours would allow me to do some of the things I want to get done. When I don't get those things done I feel I have let people down. I'm currently struggling to balance my work time and the time I have for my family. I love my family, but I really love my job, too, and sometimes I feel like I'm being pulled in both directions. We know that work-life balance is a huge concern in North America. We are ...More of "Regaining Your Balance"
